Green Machine....

I really, really, really perhaps obnoxiously so adore Kelly green!I am also really, really, really happy to report that I fit back in this dress again! The time has come and I've finally weened my son off of nursing.I stopped nursing my daughter at 17 months and now that the boy is 17 months my body was telling me ''ok I'm done now thanks".Unfortunately for my little man he isn't taking it as easy as his sister did but he'll forgive me.

I am a big advocate for breast feeding but I won't lie, though there is a part of me that will miss it,there is an even bigger part screaming "Free!I am Free!"Its nice to after 27 months of eating, drinking and minding what I am taking for someone else to be able to eat, drink and if I need to take an Advil and not have to read the back of a label.Plus the last bit of weight will come off a little easier now that my body isn't thinking it need to hang out to the extra fat for the baby so good bye last 15 pounds that's all been hanging around my waist line! You'll be out of here soon!

Shoes,Skirts and What Nottery....

I've been meaning to show off this skirt for awhile now but never did have the right top for it.Not sure if I like this top with it either but it did the trick for today's outfit and note to self:get more white tops as this is your only one. This skirt I got from a trade with the wonderful Nicole of Bombshell Bettie's Vintage that I did months ago.

Photobucket

The shoes were a present to myself for Yule that I got from Jojo's Retro and Vintage,I still find myself sulking over the amazing green pea coat she had in her shop that I missed because the day I had the funds for it,it had been put on reserve for someone else!Oh the humanity!

Speaking of vintage "no fairs"...As I've mentioned before I am REALLY trying to save for penny I get for moving and buying a home(tellin' ya this is MY year!).But the other week I saw a pair of heels so cute and so cheap couldn't resist! The showed up in the mail yesterday and much to my horror did not fit!It was as karma was saying "see, that is what you get for buying them!"*le sigh* So I put them in my Etsy shop in hopes to get my money back on them and if you have super itty bitty feet like a size 5.5 I think (check the measurements) go give them a good home.

Cherry Blossoms....

I'll be the first to admit that I am not a huge fan of reproduction clothing.I find a lot of it is very poor quality and yet they still expect you to pay $100+ for a dress that hundreds of girls will also have...and to me anyway that kind of defeats the purpose of vintage. While out thrifting though I did stumble across this EC Star cherry dress for $1.00 so I couldn't say no.Cherries I feel can be cheesy too as I've lamented before there is a right way and a wrong way to wear them and I did like the print of this!

and since you can't see my shoes in the grass, here they are:

A big "Oh No!" to my hair,it didn't stay very tidy by the end of the day but my bangs aren't quite long enough to do all the things I want to do with them.Operation "don't cut" has been hard but I've stuck to it!A few more months and I'll be golden.

Photobucket

Oh and I finally got around to making a fan page on FaceBook for my shop and posting other vintage things like videos and the likes so if you'd like feel free to add me here!

Bostie Bebes and Stomach Bugs...

Where did this week go?It seemed to have gone by in a whirl of financial organization, babies vomiting and loads upon loads of laundry.Last night was the worst of it(my kiddos being sick not the financial organizing part, the worst of that was earlier in the week making me want to pull my hair out, haha!) but I am thankful to report I think my little ones are officially feeling better as we have now been about 19 hours with nobody being sick.We seemed to have returned to running around, screaming in joy and asking for copious amounts of candy. All requests were quickly met with a laughing "NO!".Oh how quickly things can go from not being able to get the poor dears to keep down a piece of toast to asking if fudge pops are on the menu.I had to feel a bit bad for Ollie,he stayed up with me all night fretting over the kids so I don't think either of us were well rested enough for the chasing they were in the mood for by late morning.

It is in the breed to be a good family dog and I'd have to fully concur.Ollie is such an amazing dog.He puts up with a lot of abuse from the kids. From my daughter hanging on his neck telling him how much she loves him to the unpredictable nature of a 17 month old with pulling or smacking he never shows any sign of aggression back.Instead its just met with unconditional love.

Photobucket

I know a lot of my other blogging buddies are also proud mamas of Bostie babies so I thought I'd make this post mainly a tribute to Boston Terriers. You know what site has a ton of really amazing Boston Terrier items?Yep,Etsy.

This guys whole shop is pretty amazing. He's been in my etsy favorites forever though I've yet to buy anything from him.Something I hope to remedy soon.
Photobucket
This shop is all Boston themed but I have to say the cards are my personal favorite.
Photobucket

I am 99% sure that when we do buy a house THIS will be our welcome mat!
Photobucket

Loving the Bostie pillow from this shop. Also if you're a wiener dog lover or like owls this shop will also make you squeak in cuteness!
Photobucket

Speaking of getting a house...guess what my daughter who turns 4 at the end of May told me what she wanted for her birthday?A pink room of her very own in own house. It made my heart melt and a wave a guilt wash over me at the same time.I know this has been a very hard last 8 months on her as it has been on all of us.Ideally when I came here to play caretaker for a few months I never saw it turning into being stuck here like we are now.I've done the math a few times in my head now and with the odds and ends my hubby has been able to find for work combined with all my inventory selling in my Etsy shop it would cover the cost of moving back to the midwest and a down payment on a house!

Is the possible?Sure. So just an fyi to my followers you'll forgive if some of my posts are more sale orientated than usual. This is something I really want to try and accomplish and I am not giving the opportunity for failure to happen. Most of my items are priced low but just because I'm going to make this happen come Hell or high water I'm also willing to take offers. The way I'm looking at it is even a $5.00 sale is $5.00 closer to where I need to be.If you or anyone you know is in the need for some vintage please do send them my way,it'd be much appreciated.

I'm not sure what is on the agenda for tomorrow but I'm hoping a much needed day of rest or at least mostly mellowness is in order.Hope you all are having a great weekend and here is to a much smoother week coming up!

Cheap Sushi Dates and Cruising the Strand...

I love sushi and could honestly eat it everyday.I'm not kidding.Unfortunately it tends to be on the expensive side.We did find a cheap joint I remembered frequenting in my early 20s though, luckily it was still there and just as good as I remembered.

Yesterday we loaded up the red wagon and cruised the strand. It was a good work out for the hubs and me and the kids love their wagon.
Photobucket
I giggled at this sign because really who roller skates anymore? Not since the 80's have I seen anyone roller skating. Now with the revival of roller derby I guess that is not so true but still we don't see them down at the beach enough where you'd think a sign was needed.
Photobucket
You'll forgive me for rubbing in your face the palm trees but I am trying to make the best of things and soaking up the warm January here in sunny SoCal because fast forward to next year I'll be posting photos of 10 feet of snow.

Bakelite,Bamboo and Confetti...

I thrifted these bakelite bangles awhile and realized I'd never gotten around to showing them off but since I also had the luck of finding the bamboo ones here they are together!

Photobucket

Another piece of vintage costume jewelry I do dearly love is lucite confetti
Photobucket

But to prove to you I am capable of parting with some (though I admit its not easy) I did get some pieces listed in my shop.I love these bakelite hoop earrings but unfortunately for me they have clip on backings. Some may disagree but I find screw on backings far more comfortable.I tried but my uber sensitive ears wouldn't allow me to fully enjoy these beauties.

Photobucket

And I have these butter yellow bakelite cuties listed at a steal

Hope everyone has a great weekend!

Nothing of Significance...

I am going to make an attempt to blog 3 times a week...but that also means I need to have things to blog about. As of right now I am already blowing it as I have nada, hence the title. What do we do then?We ramble.I can do that.2011 has been pretty mellow.

New Year was ho hum and the second was my birthday. It was also uneventful,no cake,no happy birthday song.I am 29 which I am well aware is still young but it was a slightly depressing birthday for me as this isn't where I saw myself at 29...I'm sure a lot of people do that to themselves though. Most goals set in life aren't reached or we fall short but its just a matter of picking yourself up and keep chugging along.I think I do that pretty well. This is my year though that I'm going to make myself be where I want to be come Hell or high water!
Photobucket

Also chugging along are my bangs.I will not cut them,I will not cute them.I will not cut them.
Photobucket

Ollie turned 2 back on the 23rd if December.I told him this is the year I get him neutered,he didn't like that idea.
Photobucket

You'll forgive me for being a tad morbid but despite it being heartbreaking to find a dead humming bird in the drive way today it was also beautiful so I thought I'd share. The fact that it's dead isn't pretty by any means but normally we don't get to see humming birds so close and they move so fast you miss the detail but isn't he/she beautiful!?
Photobucket

As a child I always though they had fairy like wings because they moved so fast.I remember the first time I ever saw one sitting still I was surprised to see they had wings just like any other bird.I found a duck dead in the drive way a few weeks ago.I hope this doesn't become a pattern.Apparently my dads driveway is where feathered creatures come to die.

And in a Flash....

I'm not sure why but as you get older the years seem to go by faster. Here are are again at the start of a new year.I have good feelings for 2011....at least I hope I'm right I could use some good. The last 2 years have been testing to say the least but my family and I have prevailed and I feel like fate might toss us a bone.

I hope all the best for my readers out there too!I thought I'd let the kids stay up late last night but the boy only made it to 10 minutes past his normal bedtime and the girlie girl only made it till 9.Hubby and I were both snuggled asleep by 11:30.That is how I prefer my new years, nice and hungover free!Speaking of things that flash like time, apparently so does my tea towel! How naughty!

Photobucket
Isn't that freaking amazing?!Another bit of goodness I got from our trip north. She gave me a good laugh when I discovered that her skirt lifted and she was rockin' all that sass underneath her otherwise formal attire.Happy New Years again!I'm off for now to conquer the day.
