Procrastination is Our Name...

Yes,procrastination could be our middle name.We bought our pumpkin over a week ago and it say on the door step untouched until we realized the date and it became a "now or never" move.

Photobucket

Hubs and Heidi had a blast gutting the pumpkin and putting the seeds into a large bowl for baking later.Wayland wanted to help but he ended up trying to eat the guts too soon.I gave him a little pumpkin to keep him entertained....unfortunately he tried to eat that like an apple the moment I put it in his hands.

Wayland quickly learned that raw pumpkin wasn't his cup of tea and threw the little pumpkin which then became Ollie's new play toy.

Photobucket

After Ollie gave us all a good rounds of laughs tossing the pumpkin around Wayland became bored and starting toddling off towards the end of the driveway.Heidi always the protective older sister yelled at him to "get back over here before you get hit by a car!" Good looking out kiddo.

Photobucket

Here is the finished product,I'll have to get a shot of him in the dark tomorrow night when we get in from trick or treating with the kiddies.

Photobucket

Heidi wanted to get a shot of me.I've always hated to be told to smile or say "cheese" so when she asked me to say "cheese" I teasingly asked if she wanted a knuckle sandwich.

Photobucket
Oh I also made my very first ever treasury on etsy! Its pumpkin pie inspired, check it out if you get a minute.
Pumpkin Treasury

Well, off to bed for me.Still need to get candy tomorrow and will probably end up spending most of the day trying to explain to an overzealous toddler that we can't trick or treat until the evening.

Kitty Cats and Sticks and Stones....

Yesterday the kids and I took my dad to his doctors appointment. While he went in to get his new leg adjusted I peaked in a thrift store to see if they had anything good.I fell in love with this ceramic kitty,as did Heidi so I couldn't say "no".It was only $1.80 it its not like it broke the bank by any means.

Also spotted this little vintage jewelry box looking rather lonely.I had a customer buy 2 necklaces the other day so I thought I'd send them in this.Hopefully she likes it too.
Photobucket

That stunning red coat I mentioned in my last post sold so today I had to rally the troops and we went to the post office to mail it off. After wards hubs and I took the kiddies down to the beach to play.
Photobucket
Wayland ended up falling asleep on the way there so he missed the fun.Hubs went off with Heidi to play on the playground and make sand castles as I sat on the bench with Wayland passed out in the stroller, blissfully unaware of the fun he was missing.
Next to me on the bench was this stick and stone which made me smile.More than likely placed there by a child earlier in the day.

Due to it being Halloween weekend there are a lot of parties going on.One the way home from the beach a few blocks from the house I spotted this one pointing down the driveway and thought "THERE is one I'd like to crash"...I wouldn't of course but definitely seemed like a fun party.

Walks,Wishes and Wigs....

Kind of a random blog title I know, but this entry is kind of all over the place so seemed fitting.First I guess I'll show off my bang progress.I cut them into a little too short of a U bang last time I cut them so now that I've decided to grow them out its making it seem even longer...buuuuut they ALMOST touch my eyebrows!

Photobucket

Remember that little hole in the wall thrift store I got a lot of goodies from that I mentioned in my last post?Well,I scraped up enough to go back for one of the items I had to leave behind which is this fab red velvet 1960s Lane Bryant coat that I listed in my etsy shop the other day.If you're a 44 bust go snatch it up and give it a good home!I love it!

Photobucket

We've been walking down to the beach almost everyday which has been a good walk for the hubs and myself, plus the kids enjoy it of course.

There is an old wig shop downtown that we pass by often.I commented a few weeks ago to my hubby that I wanted this one and to wear a ballroom gown all the time declaring myself queen of Scotland (I'm not even a little bit Scottish so to myself this is hilarious.....yes,I have an odd sense of humor its fine).I just know that if I went grocery shopping one day and spotted a lady wearing this outside of Halloween it would make my day.
Photobucket

Going through one of my of my old magazines this morning I noticed these and wished for them so badly. They retailed for $24.95 back in 1951 so today with inflation that would be roughly $203.84!So ladies when you come across vintage seamed stockings stop complaining when you can snatch them up for $20.00 or less, really its a steal! They are pricey I know but they've always been. Why do you think some of our grandmas in a pinch use to draw lines on the back of their legs when they couldn't afford to replace the last pair they snagged?

Photobucket

Another thing I wished for besides the general men dressing better is that bow ties came back. When I saw this old radio ad I thought it awful cute and then wondered "have I EVER gotten to straighten a mans bow tie for him?"The answer is sadly no.I'd like to though.Men,take note.

Adventures in Growing Out Bangs and A Shopping For the Shop Day...

I've had bangs for 15 years.Due to frowning at multiple stupidities of the world too much I unfortunately have quite the wrinkled forehead already at the tender age of 28.Darn you expression lines, darn you!But I think I'm ready for a change so I've decided to commit to growing my bangs out. With a little help of pomade I was able to kind of side sweep them yesterday.

and here is a "I have something in my eye" photo

Yesterday I had to get some supplies for my shop, thank you cards and tissue paper. All that stuff to make pretty packaging.I'm sure you can all agree with me that its a little bit of a buzz kill as an online shopper to receive something you bought and its just tossed in a box with newspaper. No thank you.I really wanted these cards but unfortunately they came with the wiener dog too.No offense to you wiener dogs,I like you and you're awfully cute but I just love my Bostie babies more.
Photobucket

and then call it stupid or call it a leap of faith but I figured maybe some new inventory would help sales in my shop pick up so I spent the last of my money at this glorious little hole in the wall thrift store I found.I am so glad I went in there too and my only regret is that I didn't have more money.I had to leave some really beautiful pieces behind that I hope once I have some funds again can go back and rescue.I've gotten a few pieces listed already in my etsy shop but still have a lot more to go.Here is a peak at some of it:

Well,Well,Check Me Out...

Yes!After almost 2 weeks I have internet connection,my OWN connection so I can blog and list anytime I want now!Woohoo!Check me out!Lots of things I could share with you all right now but what I really need to do above all is play catch up on some things.Lots of blogs to catch up on and work I need to do so I'll save fun pictures and stories for the next post.

Its been so nice having the hubby back. We've had a good time hanging out and doing fun things with the kids. The job hunt is going not so smoothly but fingers crossed things will turn around on that soon.I've done not too much thrifting lately but have found some neat pieces for my shop and of course myself.Just wanted to share my joy and drop a note before anyone thought I'd fallen off the face of the earth....that happens more often than you think you know, tragic really.;)

Speaking of checking things out I thought I'd share this ad from one of my 1951 Life ads,it cracked me up.These ladies are sitting back enjoying a drink and clearly checking out this fellas tush as he cooks up some dinner.

Thrift Store Finds For the Week...

I'm always, always, always hunting for things for my Etsy shop but I of course have to keep somethings for myself.I'm trying to not do that as much right now since I'm trying to save for our move but these pretties I couldn't let go of.

The swan necklace I thought was such a fun piece.I have a few owl, flamingo and sparrow necklaces but no swan until now.
Photobucket

and of course hearts, you know how I feel about hearts!

I've been on the hunt for a few years for a celluloid chain necklace that has the seeds dangling from it in my cost range.Normally I see them in the $60ish dollar range. These earrings would match perfectly for my future necklace so when I do finally find it I'll have a sweet set.
Photobucket

This purse if perfect for autumn and its a 2 in 1!It has the snap cover and if you remove it you have a basic black purse.

Worst Internet Connection Everrrrrr oh and the Winner Is....

First off sorry for the delay in announcing the winner. The night I did this giveaway the next morning my connection went out and didn't come back until...oh well now!Grrrr.Since my husband is coming back here and we'll be staying here a bit longer than originally planned I need to look into an actual internet provider as stealing the neighbors is starting to become very frustrating.I thought I'd only be here a few months so it wasn't a big deal but its a pain in the butt!

Thank you to everyone that entered and the winner is Miss CherryBubbles!I will be contacting you here shortly. In other news as I mentioned in a few posts ago Alaska ended up not working out but I am happy to report our new plan:Washington!I've wanted to move there forever and now it looks like we are both in agreement that this could be a good thing for us.So the new plan is suck it up here together taking care of my dad,he'll hopefully find work here soon so between whatever he's able to find plus my Etsy income we'll be north bound by spring if not sooner!

As much as I've been saving my pennies I also can't pass up a good deal so I had to pounce when I came across this rocker on Ebay....I paid for it on the 14th of last month. It just TODAY finally showed up but despite needing a good scrub down due to dirt and smelling like cigarettes *cringe* it cleaned up nicely and Wayland was quite pleased with it.
