I wear sunblock everyday.Without fail I always miss a spot but normally don't realize it.Today that spot I missed reared its ugly head on a small spot where my shoulder meets my neck.Try as I might I always get at least a small sunburn every year.Today after doing my routine of post office, thrifting, lunch and back home with the hubs and kids that fact reared its ugly head, but it was well worth it!
I do apologize for the delay in my give away.I've been hunting and so far have only come up with one item but would like to have a few to offer so its still on pause but coming soon!I did come across some fun finds for myself like this awesome faux fur collar with a darling red bow for $2.00.I am trying to think which coat I have that needs some sprucing up.
and for $3.00 I came across this cute and never worn yellow wedges!I love shoes and it occurred to me that I didn't own any yellow shoes.Maybe because I feared looking like Minnie Mouse but I love these.
On the way home I noticed a payphone which seemed so out of place. In this modern cellphone age you really don't see them too much anymore.
One of the old car dealerships we passed had a 1975 Stringray Corvette for sale. Not a huge fan of a lot of 70's cars but Corvettes are pretty classy you can't deny that.
I never understood why people throw their shoes on telephone wires but it always catches my eye when I notice it and stand there pondering over it too much.Like how many times did the person have to throw them before they stuck.
and that in a nutshell is how my first sunburn of the year went. Its that time of year for my west coast friends to remember to slather on the sunblock. Not to rub it in the face of my friends back in the midwest who were complaining of more snow today.=)

Lunch at the 101 and Thrift Victories...
After a run to the post office where I only mailed one package and forgot the other *face palm* I treated the kids and hubs to lunch at the 101 Cafe. Its a really cute little joint and I wish I had snapped more photos but being a mom with 2 small kids its hard to remember to snap more photos in between keeping everyone happy too!
After eating as much as my husband hates it he took me thrifting,aw that's love. The first joint I scored some cute vintage gift wrap, purses and a decanter set.The second thrift I scored 5 cute dresses for the shop which I'd like to share a sneak peak of but ended up REALLY hating all the photos so I have to reshoot tomorrow when I have better light. Here is the gift wrap though...
My goal tonight is to be asleep BEFORE 2am.Which means I ought to hop off this thing but eh,Netflix isn't helping me any as I'm naturally a night owl and fail at self control.Wish me luck at a good nights sleep ;)

Last Minute Beach Trip...
Normal routine of running errands today. After grabbing some lunch hubby came up with the brilliant idea to go back to the house, grab the dogs and go to the beach!Fresh ocean air is good for wearing out not only children but pups too.My current favorite app on my iPhone is the Instagram..I'd imagine its what like Tumbler if Tumbler was a photo app....no I don't have a Tumbler, its tempting but its really hard for me to keep up with so many social networking sites as it is.If you have Instagram my username on there is "bakelitebroad".Here are some snaps I took today.
I loved the show "Futurama",Bender was my favorite character on the show so it was nice to see him smacked on a sign today.
This car made my heart flip flop.First off because its an old station wagon.I freaking adore old grocery getters!Secondly, its aqua!Which I'm sure you can make anything cooler when colored aqua.
I didn't want to disturb Waylan who had fallen asleep on the car ride home.Once we pulled into the driveway I didn't have the heart to wake him yet. While he slept I took a self portrait.
Still hunting for things for my giveaway.Other than that not a whole lot going on right now.Catch you on the flip side.

400 Followers!And WhatNottery...
Yeah!My blog has reached 400 followers!Well,403 because as usual it sneaks up on me like that.Expect a give away to follow soon!I really do appreciate people taking an interest in little ole me.Lets see...oh in recent shouldn't have but couldn't resist Etsy purchases I got myself these! It really is too easy to justify buying something for yourself when its under $5.00 and well, heart and key and me=hard to say no.
In iPhone app nerdery I invested in one a few weeks ago called half tone.I forgot about it until my friend Kimmi posted some of her photos using it today and I was like "oh yeah I liked that app I should use it" so I did tonight.
Ollie and Heidi play well together until one of them decides they don't want to share anymore.Normally its Heidi,Ollie being the good boy that he is always choose to sulk versus being aggressive and trying to snatch his toy back.Luckily after flashing those puppy dog eyes Heidi obliges in giving the toy back.
What Ollie lacks in calmness Lug Nut more than makes up for in the lazy bones department. He is more of a snuggler not a fighter.
Speaking of lazy bones. We did much of the same.Besides forcing myself to get to the post office today we did a lot of nothing.Hung out on the bed reading books, rolling around giggling at things that don't make any sense and sipping lots of tea.Things that are good for the soul and needed to kick that last bit of cold I can't seem to shake.
Other than that not much to report.Off to go flannel overload my senses with My So Called Life reruns on NetFlix on demand.Mmmmmm.Jordon Catalano.Sorry Jared Leto,I only love you as Jordon.Much how I feel about Eric from True Blood.Alexander Skarsgard in real life,eh..but as Eric Northman,OH YES AND PLEASE!That is normal right? To love characters but not actually that actor?

This One Didn't Make It...
When you sell vintage sometimes its hard to get to the selling part.As a rule when it comes to clothes,if it fits I keep it!The exception being something I won't use like for example a wedding dress.Doesn't matter if that fit,I'd have no use for it.
Today I'm happy to report that I am about 98% better from my cold.Still a lingering stuffed up nose but no longer miserable and unable to go out and about in the world. To celebrate I dragged my husband to the thrift store with me where I found some cute things for my shop I'll be listing through out the week AND this cardigan which I'm sorry to report if you like it but it fits, thus it didn't make it to the sale pile. =)
Here is a close up of the knit work.I love the color combo,it reminds me of a peacock.3/4 sleeves are always a plus in my book too.
I wore one of my owl necklaces today. Not the best idea against my embroidered peasant blouse as it kept snagging but no real damage done.
Oh and speaking of my shop!My 2 year Etsy anniversary is coming up in just shy of a month. My goal last year was to make it to 600 which I did by the skin of my teeth. This year I'd like to make 1,000 but realized I'm oh 132 sales away from that!Yikes, should have planned better but I'm awful at remembering those types of dates.Like don't ask me my blog anniversary,I have no clue.Anyhow, wish me luck or if you'd like to contribute to helping me reach my goal I'd be much obliged ;)

Gifts From the Mint Ranch...
I am a horrible procrastinator but thankfully so is Dana! Her birthday was back in December but I didn't her her gift out until early February and mine is in January but didn't come until a few weeks ago.Luckily we both felt each others gifts were well worth the wait.I thought I'd share some of the fab gifts she sent me.
I am in love with bows so anything in bow shape or print chances are I'll be an instant fan of,like this rhinestone brooch!
I know Ouija is taboo with some people.I remember during slumber parties as a child my mother wouldn't allow it in the house and would make my friends and me play outside, far away from the house inside a circle of salt.I'm sure she wouldn't really be fond of this bracelet but I love it!
Every piece I unwrapped made my heart skip.By the time I got to this, which was actually the last thing I opened,my tears of happiness spilled over.Oh my that face!!Too cute! And the all mighty patch I'm not sure if I'm going to put on a purse or jacket yet...probably a purse of some kind.
Last but not least is this table runner.Combining 2 of my favorite things:Hearts and bluebirds!

Not So "Free" Vet Check...
Sorry for the lack of posts!I've been sick on my butt all week so I haven't done much of anything besides sleeping and being miserable.I don't get sick very often but when I do it hits me like a ton of bricks.I am thankfully feeling a smidge better today, though not near 100% yet,son is still sick but daughter is better though not 100% either.I haven't gone thrifting,I haven't worn anything cute, nothing fun came in the mail, so I haven't had much to share...oh wait Dana's gift did show up,I should show that off..ok check! An idea for next post.Just lots of rest and drinking good things to get this cold to kick rocks!
Basically not a lot to report in my neck of the woods except for even though I'm sick I did have an awesome eyebrow day,Haha! (small victories people, that is what life is about)
and when we got Lug Nut last week I am happy to report he has fit right in with our family. The shelter told us we had a free vet check up to we has scheduled one for Friday. When we adopted him they said his ear was causing him a lot of pain but they didn't want to touch it because it hurt him.Reality, they didn't want to invest the money in him to fix it!
Well, last night we noticed the ear was swollen shut! There was no way we were going to make him suffer until Friday so luckily the vet agreed to squeeze him in today. He was a sweetheart about it though he didn't like having his ear flushed.Turns out he'd has a yeast infection in his ear, that does happen to dogs, yes weird right?Turns out he'd had it for about 6 months!Which would explain why it had gotten so bad. Also she confirmed what my husband suspected that he was not a Boston Terrier but an Old Boston Bulldog..its what Boston Terriers use to be before they were bred down in size so thankfully that means he's not horridly overweight just a little chunky, haha!
Nothing in life is "Free" and we learned that yet again today when the free check up ended up costing $200.00.To be fair the check up itself WAS free, normally they're $59.00 just for the check up but we just found it humorous. It was a little ouch but could have been MUCH worse and more importantly Lug Nut is going to be ok and you can't put a price on that.We feel and it was confirmed by the vet that his original owners neglected him.He was overfed, had an infection that was allowed to be ignored for so long and unfortunately has really bad tarter!Otherwise he has a clean bill of health and the vet said he's probably not 7 but more like 4 or 5 so yeah to having even more years to enjoy him!
What makes me sad though after finding out he was YOUNGER than we thought is the fact that his teeth are in really bad condition for being so young. We picked him up some Greenies but the vet said ideally it was so bad he needed to come in for a cleaning which would run about $360.00,yikes!I've cut a lot of prices in my shop in hopes to raise the funds to get him his very needed cleaning.Just a friendly reminder to my fellow pet owners to pay attention to your pets hygiene, including oral care!I'm off now to partake in some more juice and Netflix goodness.
