Gray Skies Take 2...

If I planned things better I would have snapped photos of what I wore today and THEN changed into the dress I meant to show you last post but my camera battery died so I only got one photo.I don't plan things well though because by the time I got out of the dress I wore today and into the other dress and back out of it again I said "eh never mind" and put on my pink Scottie dog and fleur de lis pajamas.=)

My friends call me the thrift store queen and I guess I can accept that title.I'm pretty good at putting an entire outfit together for less than $20.00,but honestly I've had to for so long that it comes naturally.For example this outfit with dress,shoes,flowers and necklace cost me $15.50!






My wardrobe has been lacking a petticoat since my mid 20's which is a shame because I think would be really cute with this dress.Somethings in life you learn too late but when your parents told you to "share" remember to scrap that idea when it comes to your closet!Especially if you're a vintage lover.Its one thing if your friend borrows something and ruins it or just never gives it back but if said item was vintage its 10 times more heartbreaking.It was windy today but I love the V shape ruffling!



the shoes I shared a few posts ago as part of a somewhat recent thrift score.Yellow shoes don't really go with a ton of things so I had to wear them with this dress versus plain black (though I feel my closet is in need of gray ballet flats)

Gray Skies...

I've been horridly uninspired lately,thus the lack of posts.Today my mom came by and picked up the kids and I to hang out and have dinner at her place.I wanted to do an outfit post but only got a few snaps of the kids and this 1 of me before my battery died!Grrr!Then I had my phone but I forgot to charge it last night so died shortly after arriving at my moms.All around fail for me as far as photos go.

I got this dress for $3.00 and when I got to the counter they told me clothes were 50% off so it ended up being $1.50!Its really cute yellow and black plaid ruffling on the bottom,I'll wear it again soon with fully charged batteries so I can get a whole shot of it.


The kids discovered the neighbors fountain while we waited for my mom to show up.I had a hard time explaining to the boy that fountain water is not suitable drinking water.




We all have off days and I guess I knew mine wasn't going to go completely smooth right from the start.This fact came to be because my son woke up at 5am,which is not a big deal,I simply brought him into the room with me to lay down for another hour or 2.I'm not sure if I fell into a deep sleep and didn't wake up to Wayland's normal attempt to wake me and it escalated to this...but yeah for some reason he thought throwing the remote at my face was a good way for mommy to start the day.Kid has an arm on him!

Oh and though my coupon code for my etsy shop expired now I've decided to just mark everything 20% off,no coupon required.Even with new listings!I'll be staying up for awhile trying to get that all set up.Hope you all had a great Easter weekend!

Oh My!Almost May!

Time flies doesn't it!Currently I have a month and a 1/2 till my "goal" move time and I REALLY don't want to stay a minute longer!Its been a hard year and I am done doing my family duty and am ready to live my life again with MY family.I have 180 in my shop I need to attempt to clear for 2 reasons.1 is I need the money to move and 2 moving LESS stuff is always a plus,am I right?!On top of going through my shop these past few months and slashing prices I am not also offering the coupon code "movingsale" to save you an additional 20% off!If you have had anything in my shop on your wish list now is a great time to snag it up before its gone.I'll be running the 20% off sale through the 24th of April.If you can throw any business my way I'd appreciate it.

Typical Day and Progress in Weight Loss...

Let me start off this post my saying "Hello Miss Dollie Deville!I need contact info for you since you were the winner for my 400 follower giveaway!"Ok now on with the post...

My typical day is balancing time for my kids and my Etsy shop.Sometimes I strike a happy medium.Some days I play with the kids and get no work done and I feel guilty.Then there are the days where I'm all work and feel bad that the kids don't get enough attention.I'm not complaining,more so hoping that working moms out there can relate,even if you work at home its still hard to find that balance...maybe working at home its more so because there is no separation of work and kids since its ALL in the home.Modern woman is literally a super woman,Jane of all trades that doesn't give herself enough credit because as she tries to put on all the hats required to get her through the day she's left feeling guilt over certain aspects in her life not getting that 100% attention.Lets remember ladies more pats on the back and less guilt.

Balance came together well today as I got BOTH kids to take a nap AT HOME!Normally its in the car or the stroller if that happens.That gave me time to take some inventory photos which I still need to edit but step 1 is done and hey,you got to start somewhere.


I've felt rather stranded this week as the tire on my stroller blew!I just replaced the other one so it was like life threw me a Nelson from the Simpson's pointing his finger at me and saying "Haha!" I instead improvised and loaded the kids in their wagon.Its not as easy to travel with but it did the trick so I could get to the post office.Being back in my home town its funny some of the things that are still around.Like this Jesus bus,I remember it as a kid and its still chugging around town.



The walk home from the post office always takes twice as long.That is because I let my daughter get out of the stroller(or today the wagon) and walk with me.This simple task is a valuable lesson for me on so many levels.It teaches me to slow down and not try to rush to the next thing that "has to get done".It is humbling for me because even though I have a lot of negative feelings about my hometown my daughter can find beauty in it and I appreciate her humbling me to slow down,take it all in,appreciate the little things,and make a wish.We make a lot of wishes on the way home.


Waiting for us when we got back was a package at the door which sealed the deal on an overall good day.It was a box full of my friend Jill's Fred Perry gear.There are not a lot of modern pieces of clothing I like but I do like a Fred Perry polo!I couldn't help but try one on right away.Also happy to report that after much back and forth,back and forth my weight leveled off at 10 more pounds till I reach my goal weight!Wayland is 20 months now so its been slow going but at least its going.



This last 10 pounds will just be toning up.Mostly in my stomach and a tad on the arms.Didn't think much of the arms but I scored this really cute dress I will try to show off on my next post and it fits perfectly so yes,yes I have to keep it but its a little tight on...the arms!Don't you hate when that happens?The arms is one of the last things you'd think of when something is too tight and its an odd feeling when it happens to you.Grrr.Fairly easy to trim up your bingo wings so it could be worse.

What would really seal the deal on my good day is a good nights sleep.Preferably one that I'm going to bed before 3am!My insomnia kicks up really bad when my husbands not around,even though its for a greater good my sleeping pattern has gone wacky without having someone around to tell it to go to bed and give it snuggles.I have found making a "Chris Isaak" and "Bright Eyes" station on my Pandora radio soothes my savage beast of a sleep pattern,not as well as my hubby but its an improvement.I have an overactive mind that constantly thinks,and thinks and thinks so being able to get lost in music as a try to sleep is a godsend.

Thift Scores For Future Projects...

If you look on Etsy for pet beds there is a lovely variety.The upcycled ones from old suitcases have always struck my fancy.I decided to share this one from Vintage Renaissance because I am biased and they have a Bostie in the photo!



This is something I know I could fairly easily create myself.I have an old suitcase with a busted buckle that would be perfect for this project.Yesterday while I was on the vintage hunt I found perfect legs for it for $1.00!



Now the only problem is I have enough to make 1 dog an awesome bed but not the other so I think I'll wait till I have another suitcase at least before I start this project.Jealousy is the last thing I want to create between my pooches.The one I currently have would work for Ollie,Lug Nut will require a much larger suitcase to be comfortable.He's lost a good bit of weight since we rescued him but he's still a big ole Lug!

The Same But Different...

Finding vintage twins or vintage that is at least in the same family is exciting!Well...to ME any way.Its how collections often end up starting,like for example my Polaroid Cool Rays with the lacy pattern around the frame of the cats eye started the way.Found one pair,later found another in a different color and kept going with it.Anything bow related is another yet another thing I go gaga for.

I picked up this black brooch with a rhinestone center for $5.00 back in November of last year while thrifting.Not a great thrift price but with most shops in California they see vintage and the fact that they're a THRIFT STORE no longer seems to matter but eh $5.00 really isn't so bad.I just got really spoiled by 50 cent vintage jewelry tables back in Indiana.,(psst Indy I miss these things about you terribly)


and this week I can across this one in a pretty root beer brown and didn't have the rhinestone center.


Now they're in the drawer together perhaps bonding or fighting over who will get worn next?Who knows.


And that concludes the title matching the content.Due to my inability to blog as often as I'd like I'm throwing in a little bit of this and that on this post too.Sorry I have blogging ADD,I can't stay on topic.Honestly though how I blog is much like having a conversation with me,it'll start here and by the end of it ends up WAAAAAAY over there on Mars.I like to think of this as progression in conversation,others argue its an inability to stay on topic *shrugs*

If the name rings a bell its because you've ordered a darling hair bow OR you remember past blogs post I've made about her awesome little boy Vince he is battling brain cancer.Vince was admitted into the hospital tonight with a fever.I'm sure most of you are aware that when you're going through chemo it really wrecks a frail body and leaves you open to infection which is NOT a great thing for an already weak immune system.Its frightening when a common cold can become deadly.In my opinion the kids has proven to be tougher than nails so I'm sure he'll be fine but all the same just wanted to make a public "shout out" to my readers that before you go to bed tonight keep him in your prayers,light a candle,send some positive thoughts his way.Whatever your cup of tea is belief wise doesn't matter.

me on Facebook you might recall the 50 unexplainable vintage photos post.There were 3 that really caught my eye and here are 2 that I'm seriously considering turning into thigh pieces.They have a very macabre in comparison to my traditional pieces but all the same they've continued please me when I look at them.
