Trends That Need to Come Back...

The thing about fashion is its all a cycle.Things come back, fall out of fashion, come back again with a twist and so on and so forth. When I first started dressing in vintage in Jr. High I can understand why my mom use to cringe when I started wearing her friends old bell bottoms that she had handed down to me.I feel the same cringe seeing late 80's early 90's fashions come back into style.

This list had the potential to get really long but I narrowed it down to 3 easy to incorporate pieces I'd like to see come back in style.

The first is for the fellas and its very easy.Men have the simplest time pulling off dapper and yet are most prone to failing miserably at it.Sorry but I can't think of anything less attractive than baseball caps, baggy jeans,Tap Out clothing and the likes.Oh and SERIOUSLY what is up with those tattooed long sleeved mesh nylon shirts?!?Don't fake it.If you don't have tattoos I could care less but if you're walking around with one of those shirts that at first glance makes me think you're fully sleeved you look a fool.

For the gents I'd like to suggest the return of the pocket watch! These I found in a field.Random find and full of mystery!

Next on the list is sweat clips...or sweater guards, whichever you prefer. These are 2 of my favorites from my personal collection.

Last but not least ladies is GLOVES!Trust me the YOUNGER you fall in love with them and stick with them the BETTER!I am but a mere 29 and trust me I can see the aging process on my hands already. It makes me wish I had been stricter about wearing gloves more often in my youth, sunblock isn't enough sometimes.(these are currently for sale in my Etsy shop)

Now I am curious what are some fashions YOU'D like to see come back and/or go away and NEVER come back?

  1. Hmmm, I think I'd like to see more hats - men and women - as a regular thing rather than something that immediately needs to be commented on as if you didn't know.

As for what should go - just jogging bottoms generally, unless you're at the gym or actually jogging. They're so hideously unflattering, and I had to laugh when Grazia and similar magazines recently tried to tell us we should be wearing designer versions with heels. Um, I'll pass on looking ridiculous in that particular way thanks!

Just found your blog via Dee Dee - following now (Love art deco)

  2. It's sort of a fashion thing but mustachios. Edwardian or Victorian style ones. Mustache mugs, curlers, the whole thing. Also, walking canes and suits.

  3. I love that hats are popular for men right now, I just wish they knew to take them off indoors.
To go away and never come back I wish to low waisted pants.

  4. Hats for men and women and gloves for the ladies. At least for dignified occasions. It used to be that one wouldn't leave the house without these necessities- even men that were poor or of modest means had a hat. Your sweater clips are divine! :-)

  5. I so wish men still wore nice slacks, skinny ties and dress shirts...why can't my husband dress like this guy?

  6. I adore your second sweater gaurd..to precious! As for fashions I like to see come back I think my list might be too long for a comment..maybe even fashion I like to see disappear...LOL So I will stick with one that is pretty current and I might even get some flack for it but oh well ;) and that would be the torn nylon look or nylons under shorts..I just don't get it! LOL

p.s tap out clothing and mesh tattoo shirts..bahahahaha too funny

  7. I would welcome an end to pants around the thighs, baggy shirts, caps on sideways and exposed underwear. Spandex shorts paired with Taz or Tweety Bird t-shirts are equally nasty. Dirty flip-flops and chipped toenail polish make me crazy, as do bedroom slippers worn outside the house. I adore Hepburn's high-waisted pants, Coco's abundant pearls and French cuffs (for men and women). I also adore your blog :)

  11. I'm completely onboard with all of these. I'm in love with sweater clips, I'm thinking of making some this weekend. I want hats to come back in earnest. And gloves (I've recently bought two vintage pairs).
