Berries and Growing Out Bangs,Take 2...

Earlier this year I started the process of growing out my bangs I've had for 15 years.I got them past my eyes and then RAN back to them!At first I cut them long but then the last time I trimmed them I did really short Bettie bangs. It was after this that I decided "no,you can do this!"Thus I am starting the process of attempting to grow them out.I've said it before but really there should be support groups for these things.Especially when you've had a look for so long. That is the problem though I hate being stuck with just one look.

Yesterday I wore my berry celluloid necklace.I love the punch of aqua and the color of the berries almost matches the blouse I wore perfectly.I love these necklaces, they're so fun and I deeply regret having sold so many over the years.Like my bowling pin one.Still haunted by that.

And here is my bangs not pushed to the side.Normally I'd be trimming them as I do like them very short but temptation WILL be resisted this time around.

here is a close up of the blouse, yesterday I meant to do an outfit post but ended up spending most of the day at the Halloween store.

Speaking of being at the Halloween store.Heidi can't commit to a costume idea yet so we go there about once a week to "inspire" her. This week I have to say I was totally terrified of her costume pick!Luckily she didn't like the smell of the plastic once she put it on.Unfortunately she doesn't share my deep seeded hatred of clowns. Is it bad parenting if I make her watch "It" and show her John Wayne Gacy art?Cause they played a big part in my childhood developmental hatred of clowns.

  1. You can do it! :) I grew my bangs out for the first time in my LIFE along with all of my hair a couple years ago. My hair is really wavy so it took forever. It was fun to be able to put it all up though! Um... but yeah in the end I ran back to bangs! They're just so ME! ;)

  2. We can support each other.I am going through the same thing.Mine are at the same legnth as yours now and it's taking all my stregnth not to take the scirrors and cut in one snip.Bettie bangs are a curse.I agree there should be support groups.lol.I just curl mine when I do my hair or it get the nice bobby pin to the side.xx

  3. My God! You have such gorgeous hair!
I wish my hair would be able to grow that long without looking too thin on the bottom.
When I was a child I had hair to the very bottom of my back. But I got it chopped to my chin when I was 11 or so and after that whenever I tried to re-grow it long.. it would start looking stringy on the bottom once it gets to *cough* mid-boob. lol

Your necklace is a beauty great colors!
    cute blouse

The pic of your little clown girl gave me a good laugh. My Husband would also be terrified of her! Had he seen her trying on the mask he could have ran right out of the store. His fear of clowns came from the movie "It" too.

  5. If you're up for it, cut the rest of your hair to shoulder length, then your bangs catch up faster. And don't forget, you can easily curl your grown out bangs into a sleep faux bang. Headbands, scarves and turbins are good for this process too! Good luck

  8. I feel your pain! I got Bettie bangs cut in early in the summer and I'm growing them out now. I wanted a change but I just can't stand having bangs, so I'm going through the torture of waiting for them to grow out. I'm at that odd stage now where they are too long to wear down but not quite long enough to pull back, so I just have to pin them to the side. I hate it!

  9. I'm doing the same grow out thing. It's not fair that the inbetween is such a pain! Stay strong :)

  10. I loved your bangs. I am experiencing the exact opposite situation unfortunately. I've been frequently told that fringes look really good on me but I just can't make myself to get one, because the growing out process is a nightmare for me. I hate having hair in my eyes all the time. Good luck! x

PS: Please don't let Heidi wear that mask, it creeped me out. I hated 'It', too scary for my taste. (Probably this is the point on Halloween but still.. Oh well.)

  11. Argh, growing out bangs is so annoying! Your hair looks great, though. I love that necklace and that blouse, the print is gorgeous!

  14. It is SO HARD TO DO IT. It took me years to successfully do it! I feel your pain! I did exactly like you.. I'd get down to about my eyebrows, or a little longer, hated the way I looked and couldn't do anything with them or the rest of my hair, then cut them again. Finally the only thing that worked for me was rolling them in little rollers and making a small front roll with them. That style carried me through months where I didn't realize how long they were getting as it didn't matter with the style, and suddenly boom! They hit cheek-length and I could style them to the side! Now they are below my earlobes and I barely think about them as 'bangs'.

I've actually considered doing a post on a few growing-out-Bettie-bangs styles since it's so hard. I knew I wasn't the only one. :)
