Thunderbird Theme

I love when you put a theme together when not even meaning to!Today's outfit was a thunderbird theme.I grabbed my Thunderbird Fashions dress I found at the thrift store for $4.00!Its a little loose at the waist but a belt comes in handy to fix that.

I'm a little stiff here  and in case you're wondering what my face is portraying its cause I was telling Sam to stay out of the photo. He responded my laying down and army crawling towards me,he listens SO well.

Here is a close up of the belt.I scored it for 50 cents at a consignment shop.It has some rust on it but I still love it.Does anyone have any good rust removal tips?I'm open to them!

Oddly out of the many, many shoes I have I do not own a pair of cowboy boots, something I will have to remedy in the near future. When I put on the dress  I was mad at this realization but the next obvious choice was my moccasins which yep, have thunderbirds on them.

  2. Go to the local auto parts store & get some Dupont Chrome Polish. That should clean up that buckle.

  4. I am completely wrong, or by Thunderbirds you mean that show with the puppets about pilots. I watched re-runs of this show as a kid and was always scared by the puppets. Anyway, truly gorgeous outfit. And the belt certainly fixes any issues of the fit :D

  5. It depends on the type of metal it is, buttttt, when I redid my formica and chrome table, I used WD40 and rubbed it into the metal with super fine steel wool. If it's plated I'd probably skip the steel wool and see how it responds just to the WD40.

  6. That has to be one of the best thrifting finds I've heard about this year. Oh my goodness, a mere four dollars for this fabulous frock - you must have been floating on cloud nine when you found it! :) You look adorable, dear gal - the moccasins were the perfect finishing touch.

    Happiest holiday season wishes!

  9. Wow what bargains! A dress like this, or a squaw type dress is on my wish list for 2013. Merry Christmas, hope you had a good one! :)

  11. Love the top detail on the dress! Super cute!

As for polishing the rust off -- you could try crumped tin foil soaked in vinegar and then lightly rub the buckle. That's how I refinished the chrome on my chairs :0)

  12. Oh I LOVE Prescott AZ. One of my favorite little day trip destinations. I wonder if the place that made the dress is still open.

  14. You look fantastic! What a stellar find - and talk about the bargain of the year! I've been eyeing similar dresses online for a while now (it's high time I have a vintage patio/squaw ensemble in my wardrobe) and rarely see them below $50 any more, with many nearing (or even surpassing) the $100 mark. I hope I have the same great luck you did and find for a great deal in person sometime, too.
