First off let me say I don't model and I don't fancy myself a model in any way but when the lovely Miss Erin from Hell in a Handbag http://hellinahandbag.net/ said she liked my look and with my current condition a.k.a being pregnant wanted to know if I'd take some photos for a white trash idea she had for her darling hair bows I couldn't resist!
They were Pabst Blue Ribbon hair bows and though all American as apple pie Pabst has a tongue in cheek white trash appeal to it that can't be beat.So what's pretty darn white trash?Smoking while pregnant.Oh and before anyone jumps down my throat I do not smoke nor do I advocate smoking, especially while pregnant and I did NOT light the cigarette in the photo it was all pretend so if you don't have a sense of humor get off my page.
Anyway here's the ad,I thought it was pretty darn funny!

Hankie Pankie...
I love vintage handkerchiefs!Something that has unfortunately gone out of style but even if it's out of date to carry them I still collect them.I end up selling a lot of them to prevent my unfortunately limited space from being over run but oh do I find some gems I can't bear to part with quite often still.
Many months ago I found this hankie and I picked it up for my daughter room since she has a 1950's ballerina theme in her bedroom.
and much to my delight as I rummaged through a huge pile of vintage linens at my favorite flea market I came across this one!I love when you find similar vintage items!

I Hope This Doesn't Ruin My Little Pony For Her...
In family news Sunday for us is "family day"... I mean really everyday is family day but more so it's take Heidi to the park day.She had a blast as always and she loves the swings. We're delighted that they opened up a zoo there too and it's free! It's tiny but it has a good variety of animals and things to do,plus did I mention its free?!
One of the features is a petting zoo with goats and ponies. We opted NOT to let Heidi in there this time and instead she seemed content petting one of the ponies through the fence...until she stopped and started paying attention to another pony that had walked up and pony number 1 bit her!It didn't break the skin but it gave her an instant bruise you could see under the teeth marks on her arm.Poor dear! She of course sobbed and kept repeating over and over "bad horse it bit me!Why?!"
I am proud of my hubby he controlled his overprotectiveness and didn't punch the pony.I know the thought seems silly but he told me right as we were walking away he had thought about it and then decided such a thing would probably be frowned upon and he didn't want Heidi to end up banned for life from the zoo because her Papa once punched a pony, hahaha!I do feel that in the future any boy unfortunate enough to foolishly break our daughters heart won't ever fair so lucky as that pony.
We took her to the gift shop afterwards where she fell in love with a penguin and declared "Happy Feet!" (which we had just watched this morning). My husband told me to take her outside and he'd meet us out there.I took her over to the fountain and a few minutes later out Papa arrived the hero with a penguin for her.$3.48 to buy your child some happiness and sort of make up for when ponies attack is priceless.

It's Just Not My Cup of Tea...
Oh I know,I know I'm probably sending easily half my blogspot buddies mouth agape right now and you'll please forgive me but I'm just not into tiki.I can appreciate it and I think a lot of it is cute but as far as collecting it for myself it's never been my fancy.I do stumble across it a lot though as I did with this lot of vintage swizzle sticks.I am convinced come hell our high water by next year we WILL be in a house so I've been stocking up here and there on my vintage barware items again for lovely cocktail parties that I will be throwing in my new house,it'll happen oh yes it will!
But these I can't use...I think it's because I already have just too many themes and tiki for me is one that could easily get out of control so I just say no but should you be a yes man for tiki check out the lot I just listed in my etsy shop!
it's Tiki Time!

I Broke My Own Rule...
Sorry I've been horrid at updating lately.I had my daughters second birthday on Sunday,my mother in law in from California and a nasty cold I can't seem to shake. All have left me rather unmotivated and quite behind on this, that and the other. Also my husband getting laid off probably doesn't help either. If I'm on the computer he'd much rather I sit on the couch with him and watch movies but as far as electrontic vices mine has always been a preference of internet over television (epsecially since our movie tastes are QUITE different).
But getting back on topic I broke one of my own rules a few weeks ago.If something doesn't work I don't buy it regardless of how cute it is.It helps my house from becoming overcrowded with vintage items.Same rule I had to apply with lamps,if it's not in a pair I don't buy it just because there are too many cute single lamps out there,I'd get out of control..however I would SOOOO break that rule should I ever stumble across some Moss lamps which I have pined over since I was 18.
I saw it at the antique mall this lovely little deco Apollo alarm clock that doesn't work. But I was drawn to it...and for $6.00 it wasn't like I was breaking the bank I just really liked it and had a "it will be mine,oh yes it will be" moment and purchased it.
Plus it looks just right next to my aluminum dish with bakelite that I got a few months ago at the same antique mall for $3.00 or $4.00.
As I pictured these I was horrified as I looked at my once overflowing lucite bracelet and necklace display and earring tree and wondered "wow have I really sold off THAT much of my personal collection?" The sad answer to that is yes *le sigh* eh but starting over is the fun part sometimes right?
