Noticed this little Bostie baby while flipping through one of my magazines from 1943.That was a good way to start the day.
While I am missing the 4 seasons being in southern California right now I did have to laugh at how lush and green the backyard is.
The backyard here is overgrown and I'm always finding odd ball things in it,like the top of this cookie jar.I wonder if the bottom is somewhere around here?
Before I went to run my errands and take the kids to the park I had put on my converse and jeans since I was going to be doing a lot of walking but decided I needed some glamor. My green and white rhinestone necklace and earring set did the trick. Is it weird to wear rhinestones with jeans?Maybe.Do I care? Not so much.
And when I peaked into a consignment shop on the way home that has vintage jewelry I was
happy to snag this guy up for a few bucks. They didn't know it was bakelite and I tried to contain my smugness and overlook the odd looks I got when caught rubbing and smelling it as I walked out the door. Can't wait to pin it to one of my winter coats!
I love the brooch!
ReplyDeleteDon't you just LOVE the rush you feel when you get/find something you want and get it!? Nice find.

I really like the necklace and earring set...tres beautiful! The owl cookie jar head is a cool archeological find. Maybe you could interest your daughter in being sort of a "junior explorer" to poke around the yard for the other half!
ReplyDeleteLove the bostie picture! Also, re: paste jewelry, sometimes when I'm worried that my faux diamond earrings/brooch set are too much for whatever outfit I'm wearing, I'll just put on two more over-the-top vintage pieces for that "dowager empress" look. Sometimes even "too much" is not enough! :) Love the pics on this blog.
ReplyDeleteHilarious about the cookie jar!! Awesome. And it is the best feeling ever to buy bakelite when someone doesn't know what it is!! LOL I know the odd looks when I go to sniff a piece of jewelry.. :)
