I've been trying to downsize as much as possible.I've been going through boxes in the garage and tossing things that sadly broke on the move here and also debating if I really love other thigs enough to want to drag it across the country again.Been listing a lot in my Etsy shop and also just giving things to friends. So with all this downsizing why on earth would I ADD MORE to what I have?Because sometimes you just can't say "No".Such was the case today.
I spend the first half of today at the grandpas. My mother after some cleaning up around the place asked if I wanted to hit up one of the thrifts I haven't been to in awhile at the retirement home,I said yes!I'm trying not to buy things to add more inventory since my shop is another thing I'm trying to downsize as much as possible for the move.I've been trying to keep what I've been adding to the shop from my personal collection but that place always has cute vintage costume jewelry.Jewelry isn't a pain to lug across the country like piles of vintage clothes and such so why not, right?
This place has 2 rooms. One is in the front and has a bit of everything, mostly the clothes, jewelry and accessories. The second room is down a hall and is filled with furniture and clearance things.Normally I hit the front first and ask to me taken to the back but today I felt like going to the back first and I'm glad I did. What was waiting back there that had JUST been put out on the floor?A Heywood Mother F*cking Wakefield dining table with leaf,4 chairs AND the china cabinet!!It was a sign from the vintage Gods that love me and want me to be happy.Downsizing or not I HAD to have these.I'm not want to say "no" to a good deal. They're mine now oh yes.Whatever house we do end up buying now is going to be just THAT much more awesome now.
Remember kids "No" to drugs,"YES" to Heywood Wakefield.
I can't tell you how many years I've hunted for a Heywood Wakefield piece in my budget, which trust me I'm well aware of how unrealistically low my budget is but eventually when hunting vintage the piece you're looking for will come...even if its not the most perfecting of timing! But just go with it!

Pretty Things For Furry Friends...
Normally I buy my Boston bebe's food at PetCo.The other day I stepped into Petsmart to do a price comparison. Was the dog food cheaper there?Honestly I have NO IDEA!I got insanely sidetracked with Martha Stewart's line of pet stuff they sell there. Some people don't like her but I love her and her Frenchie babies too!I almost got French Bulldogs when I first started looking into having a dog again but they're divas and Bostons are much better family dogs.=)
If its in my home I like it to be attractive, there is no reason it shouldn't be.I forgot to take photos but one of the things that made my heart flip was red and aqua collars and leashes!Eeeeee!I'll be back for those!I already shared on my facebook fan page the bowls so I'll spare the repeat for those of you following me on there I dislike how unappealing dog dishes can be but there was a aisle of stainless steel and aqua,or mint, polka dot or gingham that made me smile from ear to ear.Oh and lets not forget of course the aqua grooming stuff and toys!
as I made a wish list of the things I wanted (including an aqua dog treat cookie jar,yes I would use one of those)it approached a total of $200ish!I only had a few bucks so I left with this:
The dogs enjoyed both immensely and then I began to tell them off all the things I was going to get them.As the tone of my voice got more excited over the cuteness of it all their happy expressions washed away and was replaced with confusion. They were just happy to have new treats and toys,I forget Ollie and Lug don't really care about aqua colored things at all.

Mix and Match...
Today's outfit was mix and match of new and vintage. My mom found me this cute dress on the Target clearance rack earlier this week!I love vintage put also do enjoy mixing modern with vintage. When your modern piece has a vintage feel its even better!
I'm limited in my shoe variety right now because 90% of my shoes are packed away eagerly awaiting my move back to the midwest so it was my trusty ballet flats to the rescue.Seriously I may cry when I've finally worn these to death.
My earrings and bracelet set are the vintage part of my outfit.I scored this divine set for $1.25 at a flea market in Indiana.I have really small wrists so find clampers that fit is always a treat, finding them with rhinestones on them is the cherry on top and for only $1.25 is extra chocolate sprinkles...crap,now I want ice cream =/
And here is Ollie being nosy. The moment I walk out the front door without him this is where you'll find him.If I'm gone long enough he uses it as an excuse to fall asleep on my pillow.

No One Ever Said Life Was Fair...
Taking a break for our regularly scheduled world of pretty little things to lay some ugly truth on you.No one ever said life was fair, that is sort of a given. You would think that one would deserve to have a chance to live a little life though before it was deemed unfair.Life is so unfair sometimes though that it doesn't care that you're only 3 months old.Imagine only having been put on this earth 90 days ago and already you've been given a 50% chance of survival.Such is the case of 3 month old Riker Dresser.
Riker has been diagnosed with acute myeloid leukemia. My dear internet pal Bailee mentioned the Dresser's situation as they are close friends of hers and my heart broke for her,Riker and the mother and father.I try to live my life by the golden rule. You know, that rule we are taught as children and quickly forget well before adulthood of treating people how YOU would like to be treated.I can't take Riker and make her better unfortunately so the only thing I could think to help was the following:
1.this blog post mentioning her.Despite your beliefs please keep Riker in your thoughts.Power or prayer or positive energy can do wonders.
2.Try to ease a little of the financial burden this family must now endure with the cost of medical and travel expenses which is why now through the 13th of June I will be donating 20% of all sales to the family.Seen something you've had your eye on in my Etsy shop? Now is a good time to indulge.
3.Maybe you're thinking" eh I don't really need a pack of smokes" and would rather do something much more useful with $5.00 and donate via pay pal to the family.I don't want to put the email up out of fear of them being spammed but if you're interested please contact me via etsy through convos and I will promptly reply to you.

Shoe Porn...
My porn is shoes.Mostly vintage shoes,I of course appreciate the vintage styled shoes and every now and then a modern shoe makes my heart flip.My problem with a lot of repro shoes though is the price.I love remix but can pretty much guarantee I'll never own a pair (unless they're on a 50% off sale).I look at an almost $200.00 pair of shoes as simply too much for my budget. It also makes me think "do you know how many ACTUAL VINTAGE shoes I could get at that price?!"If I was rich I assure you I would SO be one of those gals that spent $500+ on shoes but the reality is I'm not.
Now if cute repros UNDER $100.00 is more up your alley I thought I'd share with you in case you weren't familiar the Dance Store and a few of my favorites from them.My wishlist in already pretty full with some that will be gracing my closet once I get moved (boo priorities but saving for a home and the move IS more important than pretty shoes, hehehe)
this pair comes in black too:
6 different shades on this style:
this pair shown in the indigo and white combo, come also in navy and white, black and white, brown and white and all black:
this pair is the priciest at $79.95 so that is like a sale price at remix =)
