I've been trying to downsize as much as possible.I've been going through boxes in the garage and tossing things that sadly broke on the move here and also debating if I really love other thigs enough to want to drag it across the country again.Been listing a lot in my Etsy shop and also just giving things to friends. So with all this downsizing why on earth would I ADD MORE to what I have?Because sometimes you just can't say "No".Such was the case today.
I spend the first half of today at the grandpas. My mother after some cleaning up around the place asked if I wanted to hit up one of the thrifts I haven't been to in awhile at the retirement home,I said yes!I'm trying not to buy things to add more inventory since my shop is another thing I'm trying to downsize as much as possible for the move.I've been trying to keep what I've been adding to the shop from my personal collection but that place always has cute vintage costume jewelry.Jewelry isn't a pain to lug across the country like piles of vintage clothes and such so why not, right?
This place has 2 rooms. One is in the front and has a bit of everything, mostly the clothes, jewelry and accessories. The second room is down a hall and is filled with furniture and clearance things.Normally I hit the front first and ask to me taken to the back but today I felt like going to the back first and I'm glad I did. What was waiting back there that had JUST been put out on the floor?A Heywood Mother F*cking Wakefield dining table with leaf,4 chairs AND the china cabinet!!It was a sign from the vintage Gods that love me and want me to be happy.Downsizing or not I HAD to have these.I'm not want to say "no" to a good deal. They're mine now oh yes.Whatever house we do end up buying now is going to be just THAT much more awesome now.
Remember kids "No" to drugs,"YES" to Heywood Wakefield.
I can't tell you how many years I've hunted for a Heywood Wakefield piece in my budget, which trust me I'm well aware of how unrealistically low my budget is but eventually when hunting vintage the piece you're looking for will come...even if its not the most perfecting of timing! But just go with it!
Just think of those as an investment!
ReplyDeleteWow!! I was shrieking with joy just reading this! Congratulations! :)
ReplyDeleteAnd wait, the retirement home has a thrift store?

ReplyDeleteEartha yes! Some retirement communities do and normally they're AMAZING!I've gotten so much good stuff at this one!

I would have done the same thing! Totally worth it. This also gives me more hope that someday I too will find a Hey-Wake set at a good deal :)
ReplyDeleteIts totally worth lugging across country! I would have done the same thing.
ReplyDeleteYes Yes! Everyone should learn this....always "Yes" to Heywood Wakefield!!!
ReplyDeleteWow what am amazing find! I too wait and wait until I find something in my budget, sometimes it's frustrating but eventually all comes good in the end, so pleased you found this, it was meant to be!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful. You really do have to listen to those urges that pull you into the op shops. Some days they are strong fora reason. LOVE!!!
ReplyDeleteI have that table! Same chairs and everything although mine has 6 chairs but same style. Sadly have not come across a china cabinet that wasnt either too expensive or already sold and mocking me but if I did I would surely pee my pants. If you didnt buy these you would have regretted it FOREVER.
ReplyDeleteI got Sophie's HW bed for $2 and her nightstand was found on Heavy Trash Day. Its even better when you get a great deal.
ReplyDeleteHoly Crap! Super jealous. Nice score.
