F*ck Chucks!

Unless you've been living under a rock I'm sure you've heard of the monster that is football player Michael Vick.Sure he may have done his time but that doesn't forgive his sins.Just like I wouldn't trust my children to be babysat by someone that once served time for a sex crime,I CERTAINLY wouldn't trust Vick with my dogs.Nor can I support a company that holds this man as a hero.

You'll remember back when the story broke of the horrible animal abuse those pit bulls suffered through Nike dropped him as a spokesperson.Nike has since flip flopped and has signed a new deal with him!At first I thought "I don't own Nike's so I can't hit them where it hurts."My friend Michael informed me that yes, actually I can because Nike owns Converse.I love my Chucks but I love animals more and I can NOT look at myself in the mirror knowing that my money is supporting a company that would use such a disgusting human being to represent them.I am boycotting Chuck Taylor sneakers and I hope you will be too. Here is a good blog post about it that you can read:Nike Flip Flop

Fellow readers I hope you will join me in saying "NO" to Nike,BET and Subway for all playing a part in allowing this chump to line his pockets so thick after the inhumane things he has done.Nike, the ball is in your court now.I have worn Chucks for years but have thrown mine in the trash and I will not purchase a new pair until you drop this scumbag and apologize for this HUGE error in judgment.I hate spineless people and I will not do business with a spineless company.Should have stuck with your original stance of dropping him and NOT picking him back up because for what its worth it DEFINITELY cost you MY dollar.

  2. It's such a shame that society is so quick to worship athletes and to pretend that their athletic skills are such a service to us. The day when humanitarians and animal rescuers are lauded with such magnitude - that's the day when we will have it right. When money stops being the driving force behind the public opinion.

It's also a real shame that so many have found it so easy to forget what Michael Vick has done. I have no doubt that he would have kept on doing it if not caught. And that if he could today, he still would. You can't wash that kind of cruel heart away with jail time. There is something inherently horrible in his heart to be able to treat innocent ones in such a way.

  5. hiyall,
well said! I live in the hampton roads area near where MV and his goons grew up and live now. Next to PETA, he has embarassed the whole area with his antics. They finally turned his old house in surry county into a dog sancuary as was promise in the plea bargain. (mauh) Liz

  7. It awesome to see your post. My husband was just telling me how mad he was that he found out Nike owned Converse. He has never bought Nike in the 8yrs we have been together, but has always loved his chucks.

Loved seeing other people take a stance with us, even if we don't know you personally :)

  8. It takes a really bad person to inflict pain on an animal. I agree with the person who said they didn't believe jail time changed MV's heart. I can't forgive him and I don't want to either

  9. Thank you Des for informing me of this. My husband wears PF Flyers and we will never look at converse the same again! (or Nike for that matter) I guess everything is about the almighty buck.
