I have been pining over a Petunia Pickle Bottom Cake Carryall bag for months now. They may be the most amazing diaper bag known to mankind.Definitely a bag that I would carry well after Wayland is out of diapers.Remember that sky blue diaper back with brown polka dots I bought awhile ago?Well, its from Baby Essentials and is GARBAGE!Already falling apart and the darn thing cost me a lot...actually cost my mom a lot since she was swell enough to treat me to it but still I think that actually upsets me more.Oh and the shop we bought it from, out of business now so I can't even complain to them.Just saying don't waste your money on one as it started to show wear within the week and I take REALLY good care of my things.
The problem with the cake carryall is that its $350.00!I wish I lived in a world where that was chump change to me but I don't.Santa,if you're listening just putting it out there that I will gladly accept a carryall in any of the following 3 shades:
red velvet cake(I have a obsession with red bags, its sick really):
the apple tart(I also have an obsession with green,I'm actually starting to like this one the more I stare at it)
and the French gooseberry:

Still Keeping Vince in our Thoughts and Prayers...
Some of you may remember me back in July telling you about Vince. You can read HERE to refresh yourself or familiarize yourself with the story.Since I originally blogged about it Vince has been busy kicking cancers butt!He has been in and out of the hospital with his treatments and really just can't stop thinking about this kid.Such a fighter! Can you imagine being 3 years old and battling something so big?I can't and I look at my own 3 year old and am so thankful that despite whatever life has thrown our way we've at least always had our health.
I'm happy to report that after a few weeks of being in the hospital Vince is fortunate enough to be home with his family again.I just wanted to 1.remind everyone to keep thinking good thoughts for this guy and 2.I decided I wanted to do more than just bring awareness of his story I wanted to try and help with the growing costs of medical bills.
Right now through the 30th I will be donating 20% of all shop sales to Vince's family. If you had your eye on something NOW would be a great time to stop by!What is better than vintage shopping?Doing it for a good cause!Double win so visit my Etsy shop HERE.
It is so easy to get wrapped up in the little things that pester our days that we lose focus on that things that matter, like our health and family. With Thanksgiving a few days away I know health is something I will give thanks for.Keep fighting the good fight Vince! You've got an army of admirers kid!=)

Cloudy Days and Ugly Little Things...
It hasn't started just yet but it is suppose to rain today.Due to this I didn't want to venture too far from my dads house so we just played in the driveway.
Chalk and Hot Wheels can be hours of entertainment and they were!Yesterday I had gone grocery shopping and it never fails I ALWAYS forget something.Even if I make a list there will be an item that within 24 hours I realize I needed and did not grab.Today that item was water. We had worked up quite a thirst playing and snacking on pretzels in the driveway,a quick stroll to 7-11 to buy a jug of water would remedy that so off we went.
Now with a 3 year old this type of store is a long list of "can I have this?","can I have this?" and some more "can I have this?".I don't know about you guys but I read everything. Most parents may not approve of their little girls wearing makeup.I love makeup so its not shocking that Heidi has an interest in it.I usually entertain this interest with some flavored chapsticks like Lip Smackers which is cruelty free. While we were in the store Heidi grabbed this and asked if she could have it.
Upon front inspection it seemed innocent enough, eyeshadows and what not.Warning label on it to tell you its not for 0-3 year olds.Heidi is 3 and 1/2 so I would trust her with it.I flipped it over though and was disgusted to find this warning label:
Ugh!This shouldn't be fit for anyone!Shame, shame, shame. This is why I avoid made in China products and urge everyone regardless of if you have kids or not at least for yourself too PAY ATTENTION to the things you use.You may be horrified at what people will sell you.

Sunny Day Walks and More Kitschmas Delight...
Thursday was a nice sunny day.During my usual post office run the hubby accompanied me and we took a different route where I got to admire some things I hadn't seen in quite some time.
Yesterday my mom,the kids and I went thrifting. It was rainy and perfect for wearing my cashmere sweater I had gotten for a dollar.I forgot to get a full outfit shot that day but I paired it with my 70's plaid wool skirt.
I ended up hitting it pretty big in the vintage Christmas decor department. This guy I ended up falling in love with and when Heidi told me she loved him bunches I decided we'd keep him.
this poodle candle holder I wanted to keep and if he was a pair I would have but since he's not I did manage to get him listed in the shop.
I thought this ornament was AMAZING!My hubby on the other hand thought is was hideous and asked if I was selling it.Fine,I can take a hint I guess I am.Pffft,boys...what do they know about good taste?
and here are a few more pieces I scored:
I was a little bummed I didn't find any knee hugging elves but that's ok.Always next year....actually that's a lie.I search year round for those things.

Bosties,Bits of Green and Bakelite...
Noticed this little Bostie baby while flipping through one of my magazines from 1943.That was a good way to start the day.
While I am missing the 4 seasons being in southern California right now I did have to laugh at how lush and green the backyard is.
The backyard here is overgrown and I'm always finding odd ball things in it,like the top of this cookie jar.I wonder if the bottom is somewhere around here?
Before I went to run my errands and take the kids to the park I had put on my converse and jeans since I was going to be doing a lot of walking but decided I needed some glamor. My green and white rhinestone necklace and earring set did the trick. Is it weird to wear rhinestones with jeans?Maybe.Do I care? Not so much.
And when I peaked into a consignment shop on the way home that has vintage jewelry I was
happy to snag this guy up for a few bucks. They didn't know it was bakelite and I tried to contain my smugness and overlook the odd looks I got when caught rubbing and smelling it as I walked out the door. Can't wait to pin it to one of my winter coats!

Kitschmas....
This year the Yule tide season will be spent at my ma in laws.Next year though I want an aluminum tree and all the delightfully kitschy Christmas decor I can collect.A tree drenched in tree hugging elves?Yes Please!I'm trying not to get too crazy adding more to what we already have right now though with the move coming in spring so I've put a few great vintage kitsch Christmas stuff in my shop right now.If you're itching for some cool Yule decor go take a gander! You can find them over in the housewares/home decor section of my Etsy shop.

Send Me an Angel...Oh and Dinnerware...
While vintage hunting yesterday I failed in the clothes department but that's ok because I did pretty well in the housewares and accessories area.Luckily for me I like all aspects if vintage not just clothes. My shop reflects that too as I sell a little bit of everything.I sometimes wish I could focus on just one area such as clothes or jewelry like some shops but I'm greedy,I like it all!Which also means I collect it all and in return must sell a variety of things to prevent you EVER seeing me on a future episode of "Hoarders"!
I picked up some Christmas hankies, scarves and vanity set that will be hitting the shop soonishly but I didn't get a chance to photograph those for my blog post....kids and blogging, yeah I don't know how some of you guys do it but I can't do a daily post, nope, nope, nope.
I did find these adorable tea cups by Homer Laughlin in the "modern star" pattern.I use to collect this pattern but gave up because its a little out of my price range.Go figure once I gave up and sold the few pieces I did have I now find it fairly regularly!
Also found a few of the Josef Originals birthday angel figurines! There are 2 versions I've seen and the newer ones just are NOT as cute as these beauties. The series celebrates birth through your 21st birthday.I was reeeeeeally tempted to keep these for Heidi but really the last thing I need to be doing right now is starting a new collection.Focus needs to be on saving every little penny in order to move in the spring which will be here before too much longer(and operation buy a house is in full swing).
In life plans I'm sad to report Washington is off the table.I was so excited about moving there that I jumped the gun in announcing it.I have a bad habit of doing that but life likes to throw a curve ball in my life more often than not.But I am excited about moving back to the mid-west!I'll keep it at that as to not jinx it this time around and will share more once things are set in stone.

Photo Booth,Elvis and Sewing Machines...
I hate when you're thrifting and you come across some really cool things for a steal buuuuut you don't have any space for them.I ran into these 2 sewing machines while vintage hunting a few days ago, they were only $20!The wood on the tables they popped out of was in good condition too.
The Singer I didn't get a chance to snap a photo of the table or a very good picture of the machine for that matter because Wayland quickly became confident in his surroundings while there and decided he no longer needed to stay at my side and went running off and I had to snatch him up.
I did pick up this delightfully tacky large headed Elvis statue to give to one of my friends who I knew would appreciate the kitsch-tasticness that this Elvis oozed.
In bang growing out news I'm into that hide all cutting tools stage, but they're getting there!Looking forward to having long side swept bangs.I just hate this stage because they aren't quite long enough to successfully stay to the side and worn straight looks a bit unkempt.

Halloween,Halloween,Everybody Scream!
As predicted Halloween day I did indeed spend telling Heidi over and over again that it was not quite time to go trick or treating. We did start at 5pm though since the poor dear was foaming at the mouth.I didn't think we were THAT early but was a little amazed at how many people commented that we were early.Eh,with 2 small children I didn't really want to be out late and in the dark with crowds are far more aggressive kids also hunting for candy.
I was a little disappointed with the lack of Halloween spirit my hometown had this year.I saw lots of teens out in no costume expecting candy and tons of houses that didn't answer the door at all when they say us (put a no candy sign on your door then!).Fortunately by this time next year we will be back somewhere in small town America not having to deal with that.
Heidi was a cupcake fairy...oh how I wish there was such a thing!
and Wayland was a skeleton,he wouldn't wear a mask or allow me to put makeup on him though.
There were a few houses that went all out with the decorating which I appreciate.None of it fazed the kids though.
Oddly the one thing that DID make Heidi scream was a non-Halloween item,a motion detector frog that croaks when you walk by.
I knew I wanted to dress up but had to wing it.I wore all black and decided to do heavy make up but it eventually ended up being this. Not bad for using mascara and lip liner and having a baby wrapped around my leg whining and a 3 year old asking if it was time to go yet.
I bought this necklace off Etsy awhile ago and wore it with my outfit.Since I was holding Heidi's hand when it came untied I had to hold it in my hand instead of put it back on.I don't know if I've ever mentioned on here what a klutz I am but for the record I am.The only casualty of the night was my eye.As we walked by a low tree a branch caught the top of my hat and begun to pull.I used the only free hand I had which happened to be the hand holding the necklace and went to grab it.The motion of my hand was just enough momentum for the pendant to go swinging and WACK!Right into my eye...which smarted horribly for the next block.Yeah, something like that would only happen to me.
Had the kids back by 6:30pm which was enough time to check out the many bits of goodies they scored and get settled done with a movie before their bedtime.I hope you all had a safe and fun filled Halloween!
