Barbie Fashion Show...

I found this Barbie in a flea market when I still lived in Indiana. Before anyone gets too excited she is a reproduction but its funny that even as a reproduction she's quickly approaching the time frame for vintage herself in the realm of online selling (20 years or older). She was still in the box and I thought she would be so cute to display in my daughters room.Heidi was 2 at the time and quickly discovered how to climb up to shelves and quickly destroyed the box.She still displays well and even though my daughter enjoys playing with all her  Barbies this one she keeps on her dresser and plays with her very gently. This is the outfit she came in.

And how cute are her shoes? The answer is very.

One thing Heidi has always lamented was that this doll needed more clothes because when she put her in her modern Barbie clothes it didn't look right. When my mother in law came to visit we went to a few thrift stores and  as luck would have it she found a few bags of vintage Barbie clothes! It took me a few weeks to get around to washing them. Some I wasn't able to salvage due to being so stained or torn but most of the bag was pure gold. These were a few of my favorites.

Happy to report when winter hits Barbie will be ready this year!

There were a few capri pants in the bag,the others were crazy floral prints that we haven't found tops that match yet.

This one, like a few others in the bag,I believe those sew it yourself pieces.

When I put this one on I had one of those "Barbie dresses sexier than I do for bed" realizations.

Even though I felt like a creep for this shot I had to get a better detail shot cause her panties are adorable.

This was has a little fraying on one arm but not the end of the world.

Hopefully this will keep the kiddo content with outfits for this one for awhile.

Cute But Creepy...

Today I spent trying to unpack those last few boxes of things. Most of our stuff is in the garage and will stay there until its time to go to Alaska but of course somethings I couldn't wait to use for another 6 months and they've been sitting around the room I'm staying in waiting for me to get a free minute to get to them.

There was a yard sale I saw 2 days before I left Indiana.I HAD to peak in and I'm glad I did.I found a mostly silly things that I could have gone without but what fun would that be?I'd describe the majority of it as "cute but creepy".

Don't ask,I have no idea what I'll do with these.Maybe demented cute cupcake toppers?Perhaps.I saw the bunny and it was love and at 50 cents for a bag of cute animal heads sure why not!

I crochet but not as well as I'd like.I thought maybe it'd be fun to try out crocheting some bodies and heads for these faces I found. They were 10 cents so its not a total loss if I can't do it.

I love Halloween! Also thinking of making these into cupcake toppers my only regret is not buying more of these.

and lastly I wouldn't consider these under the cute and creepy category but these fish mama and her babies wall hangings that were only $2.00 and I have a cute yellow hamper to pair them with in the bathroom of where ever we end up in Alaska (because oh yes our next place WILL have at least 2 bathrooms!).

Now since I bought these like I said 2 days before I was moving they ended up in the "things I need" box since that's always the last thing you pack so I laughed a little when I unpacked them since clearly I don't NEED any of it right now but hey I got to show it off sooner than I thought so yeah for that!

Good Things Come to Those Who Wait...

After running our usual post office trip, the kids and I stopped into my friend Jan's shop.A year ago she had gotten these darling Holiday Fair dolls in and I remember wanting this one but it was on hold.Jan has been rearranging the shop and told me to go look at some jewelry in the back and much to my surprise look who was still there! My Bonnie Lass!I asked Jan if I could purchase her now to which she laughed at realizing that lady never did come back for it and off she came home with us to be added to my daughters collection.

Rock A Bye Baby...

To help ease my daughter with any resentment she might have about having to share the spotlight now that she has a baby brother I've had to try to help me with everything so she feels like a big helper and not left out.

Her interest in her baby dolls has really peaked which has come in handy since she's only 2 and I'm not comfortable with her holding him or anything more than a gently pat on the head or kiss.I found a vintage crib for $4.00 at the flea market a few weeks ago (the vintage doll I got a year ago at the same flea market for $9.00) and that has been fantastic because when I tell her I'm putting brother to bed and that she should put her baby to bed I can lay my son down in his crib without my daughter following me into the room and waking him up since she doesn't care when I tell her to keep it quiet...normally if she catches him napping when she doesn't see fit she bends over and yells "hey you WAKE UP!"*Le Sigh* oh 2 year olds....

Poor Hubby...

I won't pretend to understand how Ebay works sometimes other than to say its unpredictable at best.I had two vintage walker dolls listed this week and my husband suggested 24 hour auctions because they creeped him out alot,ha ha ha!Well,go figure the one he hates the most DIDN'T sell so I had to re-list it last night but it makes me laugh to think of him having to deal with this doll longer than he wanted.I think what spooked him the most is when I made her walk her head turns left and right.Ok but getting back to the first sentence (sorry I tend to jump around sometimes) so yeah the one I sold here the Ideal Saucy Walker doll:

She is in less than perfect condition (poor girls hair is a fright!) but she STILL sold more than another one that was in the original box!I'm not complaining it's nice to have one of those "that makes no sense" things go in my favor for once.

Here is the Effanbee one that I had to relist:

Just goes to show looks can be deceiving, you'll forgive me for finding so much entertainment in my husbands misery but sincerely its comical to see a big guy that's heavily tattooed, has jumped out of airplanes fearlessly and a whole other list of general badassery be disturbed by a doll!As much as I need to money so I hope she sells an evil tiny part of me wishes she doesn't so I'll just keep for Heidi to play with when she's a little older, the thought of Heidi forcing Papa to have a tea party with her and that doll makes me giggle.
