Wistfully Waiting For Spring...

Yes,technically it is spring but you wouldn't know it in my neck of the woods. The ground is still very covered in snow.I did get tossed a bone yesterday and there was a high of 46!Even though it was too cold to wear my spring dresses it didn't stop me from putting one on for around the house and spend a bit of time longingly gazing into my closet. This dress I'm wearing I  got from Modcloth on sale for $13!I was worried about the length.I'm very funny about length.I prefer things just over my knee and this is right above so it feels a little juvenile but not terribly.Luckily I'm short so its not going mid thigh or something!

The browns in the dress gave my an excuse to wear my new pieces of Bakelite that I'd found at the thrift store not too long ago.The brown faceted one I found in a bag with another bracelet for 75 cents at an antique mall junk jewelry table. The other brown bangle I got with 2 orange ones not photoed for 85 cents for all of them! The green on I've had for a few years now and can't recall where I got it,I think it was an eBay score.

I bought this 70's chief ring for $4 on sale from  Bright Baubles and More's shop earlier this week and was happy to have it arrive yesterday so I could wear it.

This time last year the snow was all gone and it definitely felt like spring, this year I think we're getting the typical UP spring and it won't look like spring for another month. One being that doesn't seem the least bit upset about the snow is my lab Sam.

Bits of Downtown...

Yesterday I had to make a run down to the post office to mail off my weekend sales.I decided to snap some shots of downtown,I love the old attention to detail.Something modern buildings for the most part lack.Plus everything is in full bloom now and it is beautiful!

Missing from my photos is a lovely one of the row of light fixtures inside our downtown post office. The security guard made me delete it off my camera! In case you are not aware as I wasn't apparently taking photos of a federal building is not allowed.Whoops!

After I got home and told my husband of my little ordeal he laughed at me and told me it was an unspoken rule. Now after the fact yes it makes sense but maybe it should be a little more spoken, like a sign on the door or something. Also thankful they didn't take my camera which is another thing my husband told me they could have done, yikes!I would have cried. So to save anyone else who reads my blog from feeling terribly stupid like I did, don't take photos of a federal building, even if they have really neat design.

Speaking of photos, does anyone know how to keep blogger from making your photos look crummy?I'll take crystal clear photos and when I upload them on here they turn a bit fuzzy.

Ugh,I'm Bad,I Know...

I am terrible. Here I am trying to downsize the purses I already have and what do I do?I go and buy another one!Bad me because really I don't need it and also bad me because I need to be saving money for our move,NOT spending it.It was $10.00 so I could have done much, much worse in the world of vintage purse prices but I couldn't help myself.I think it's adorable, even after showing it to my husband who eyed it with the usual "I don't understand why you like some of this stuff" expression and oh so eloquently remarked "it looks like he sh*t out the sun",ha!He has a way with words that one.

So now I've put myself on strict no more buying rule but I'm glad I didn't pass it up.I love Enid Collins purses and the old craft purses from the 60's and 70's,which is what this rooster is,a craft project purse.

In other news I'm happy to report my town is finally looking like Spring and not stuck in the dead of winter look.I took the kidlets for an evening stroll yesterday and snapped a few of the pretties around town.

My favorite photo I snapped yesterday by far was this one of an abandoned news stand because I appreciate irony in all its forms:
