Prayers For Roxanne..

The kids let me sleep in this morning.I woke up to my son kissing my face.I smiled and reached for my phone to see the time,9:30am!And then there was the missed text from 6am this morning from Tess letting me know Vince had passed. My heart shattered and the tears ran warm down my face.I hugged my babies.

Those of you that remember my past blog posts about him know that 4 years old is just too young to leave this world and yet that is the reality. For those of you that are new to my blog Vince had brain cancer.I apologize for not updating everyone more but wanted to be respectful of the families privacy as his health declined.I've known for a while it was getting bad so I felt awful ignoring the inquiries I'd gotten about him but didn't want to over step my bounds as I'm sure you all can understand.

I could say a lot.I could ramble on and on I'm sure but as it is ,its hard to see the computer screen through the tears that have come and gone all day.Vince is just a smidge older than Heidi and I keep watching her thinking "what if she wasn't here anymore?Just gone!" and it makes my heart break that much more for Roxanne.

Vince, you are...were an awesome kid.You fought hard. You endured more pain than any child ever should. In the end the cancer was more than your little body would handle. Some things are bigger than us.Your death is so much bigger than me.I don't understand it.I know life isn't fair. But your passing makes me realize this all that much more.I find comfort knowing you're no longer in pain though.I'm not in the same faith but I hope your God holds you close and you're with friends and families passed before you.Remember to watch over your little brother and your Mother.A warm breeze in her hair to remind her you're still there kid.

Before my titles and tags for Vince were "praying for Vince".Vince doesn't need them anymore though. He's moved on to better and bigger things.Instead now I ask for prayers for Roxanne.

Roxanne I hope you know how much support you have and how inspiring you have been to so many of us.You are truly a pillar of strength.I have been a mixture of sad and angry all day.It was very humbling to hear you say you were trying to show Gods love and grace through this instead of anger. You're a better person than I.I'm happy in the end he got to pass at home with you and his father there for him.

I just wanted to share this sad news with my fellow readers that have taken the time to care and keep this family in your thoughts and prayers. It DOES mean something. In a world so jaded and self important taking the time out for someone else has become a rarity so its not in vain and it is appreciated.

Nothing takes away the hurt of losing a child. It is the greatest injustice a parent can face is outliving their offspring. For those of you with kids, hug them extra tight today. It is unfortunate that bad things have to happen for us to be reminded of how grateful we SHOULD be.Vince, you might have only been 4 but you've taught me that lesson.Looking at your photos, your eyes portrayed to me that you were an old soul, you were definitely wise beyond your years little man.I'm just sorry you couldn't stick around to enlighten us all a little more.

Still Keeping Vince in our Thoughts and Prayers...

Some of you may remember me back in July telling you about Vince. You can read HERE to refresh yourself or familiarize yourself with the story.Since I originally blogged about it Vince has been busy kicking cancers butt!He has been in and out of the hospital with his treatments and really just can't stop thinking about this kid.Such a fighter! Can you imagine being 3 years old and battling something so big?I can't and I look at my own 3 year old and am so thankful that despite whatever life has thrown our way we've at least always had our health.

I'm happy to report that after a few weeks of being in the hospital Vince is fortunate enough to be home with his family again.I just wanted to 1.remind everyone to keep thinking good thoughts for this guy and 2.I decided I wanted to do more than just bring awareness of his story I wanted to try and help with the growing costs of medical bills.

Right now through the 30th I will be donating 20% of all shop sales to Vince's family. If you had your eye on something NOW would be a great time to stop by!What is better than vintage shopping?Doing it for a good cause!Double win so visit my Etsy shop HERE.

It is so easy to get wrapped up in the little things that pester our days that we lose focus on that things that matter, like our health and family. With Thanksgiving a few days away I know health is something I will give thanks for.Keep fighting the good fight Vince! You've got an army of admirers kid!=)

Operation Bread...

We need to go grocery shopping here but it wasn't in the cards. My dinner plans were simple tuna melts but we had no bread so I rounded the troops to head to the corner store to get some.I was stoked that I was able to fit into my pink dress!A little tight at the waist still but it zips up and that's what counts, right!?This was one of those glorious $6.00 flea market finds.

Heidi I always get a kick out of because she is the type that will play with a dump truck,so long as she gets to wear a tutu while doing it.Today she decided she was all princess though.

The hat Heidi is wearing I scored for $5.00 at one of the thrifts in my moms town and even though it was a bit warm today I couldn't pass up a chance to wear my angora beret.

Wayland was looking pretty styling too but he was in no mood to have his picture taken.Operation Bread ended up in failure as the corner store was out of bread.Apparently more people than just us we're trying to put off going to the grocery store too but according to Heidi "that's ok because we're fabulous",indeed child and you are wise beyond your years.

Speaking of fails...My fund raising for Dori over at I am NOT my breast cancer was a fail.I wanted to raise at least $100.00 for her and didn't even reach half my goal so I've extended the 20% of my shop sales going to her for another week in hopes that I'll have better luck this time around,if my readers wouldn't mind helping me spread the word I'd greatly appreciate it!

60's Silverware and More Serious Matters....

I've cleared out a nice 6 foot by 6 foot area in the back room of my dads house. As I've mentioned before I am dealing with almost 15 years of hoarding and a man that doesn't think there is anything wrong with the current state of the house *sigh*.Though I've given up on fixing up the house like I had hoped while I was here since he no longer wishes to work with me I don't feel bad about getting to Alaska as soon as I can. While I am here though I'm still going to try and do what I can.

One thing I was glad to have found was some silverware that belonged to my dad in the early 60's.Blame it on the Spaniard in me but I saw that and instantly claimed it as my own!I mean he has 2 other sets so its very much NOT needed here so it will have a new home in Alaska with me.

I love the little atomic bursts on them.I also love that my dad got these when he use to work at a gas station in college...I guess it just shows how informal our society has become. You'd never find something like this at a gas station now,let alone a silverware set that has appetizer forks and other serving utensils.

And on to more serious matters now.I just wanted to thank everyone that has kept Vince in their prayers and don't stop praying for the little guy!I also wanted to put another person up on your pray-dar (that's cute right?I'm clever like that).I want you to meet Dori over at I am NOT my breast cancer.

I think too many of us have a "it can't happen to me" attitude. Here is the kicker,Dori is 26 years old. That's right,26 years old with breast cancer.Regardless of age we all need to be aware that it COULD happen to you and why its so important ladies to keep up on your paps to screen for cervical cancer and your mammograms to screen for breast cancer!I see this happening to more and more younger people.

Starting now through the 21st of August I will be offering 20% of all my Etsy sales to Dori to try and help her with her growing medical bills.I'd appreciate anyone helping spread the word on this too please.Again now through the 20th you can treat yourself to some pretty vintage AND do a good deed, its a double win!So shop my etsy shop and spread the word my friends!

Prayers For Vince...

I've met some really amazing people through social networking.I love to support my fellow Etsy friends but sometimes life isn't always fun and games, its not all promoting, giggles and gossip.Things happen sometimes and it can be ugly.It is easy enough to ignore people in their time of need if you don't know them in real life but that kind of indifference I think is where a lot of the problems of the world lay.Something shouldn't have to be happening RIGHT in front of you to care.

If you shop hair bows on Etsy there are tons!Very few stand out but one shop I always thought did even before I befriended her was Roxanne of Original Cenz. Now you'll notice in her shop announcements sadly her 3 year old Vince had a tumor removed from his brain and to date has been diagnosed with brain cancer. He is currently undergoing chemo and radiation.

Roxanne and her husband just welcomed into this world a new baby boy so you can imagine this is a time of mixed emotions for them.Joy over this new life their love brought into this world and the despair of your oldest child who is still just a baby himself struggling with such a serious disease.

The very talented Corissa of Wicked Minky has designed some necklaces for Vince that Roxanne's best friend is selling in her shop here.If you can I urge you to go buy a necklace.Roxanne will also be opening her Etsy shop back up soon to help cover the growing medical costs.

And more importantly do PLEASE pray for him!I don't care what your faith is.Whatever God,Gods,Goddesses,Higher Power or just light a candle or think good thoughts for this little kid fighting for his life right now.I had this cancer scare with my mother but as a mother I can't imagine having to deal with this with my child!Pray for Roxanne and her husband for the strength and courage needed to get through this and pray their new baby boy gets to have a HEALTHY big brother around to protect him growing up as it should be.

The power of positive thinking is so important and this family could use it right now so my dear blogger community please band together with me and Pray for Vince! He can beat this I'm sure! And to Roxanne should you ever get the chance to read this please know that so many of us though we may not have had the pleasure of meeting each other in person think so highly of you and your family. We're touched by your struggle and hope all the best for you and your family!
